Classes & Teaching
ADULTS
I really enjoy teaching and encourage an experimental mixed media approach, as is reflected in my own work. I am experienced with beginners and professionals alike and believe that everyone can develop at their own pace, in a way that is right for them.
I regularly teach Life Drawing classes in Burntisland, as well as leading online classes and teaching on location with Flavours Holidays. https://www.flavoursholidays.co.uk/painting-holidays/italian-painting-holiday-tutors/
For people applying to Art College, life drawing can be a valuable addition to a portfolio. Potential art students are very welcome to contact me about specific life drawing classes for those wishing to build a portfolio.
The life drawing classes helped me a lot to develop my skills which were hugely beneficial to my portfolio for applying to University. I always recieved a lot of helpful advice which helped me to improve even more. I am now doing an Art & Design (general foundation) BA at the University of Dundee.
CHILDREN
I love working with kids but have no classes currently available.
ONE TO ONE SESSIONS
Sometimes an artist needs a bit more than a two hour class, and a whole day is necessary to provide the space and time to develop their practice. If you have ideas you’d like to develop but are not sure where to take them, or would like my insight and input, then one of these days might be for you. I will spend time looking at your work before you come and discuss with you in advance what you would like from the day. The format of each day is different, but previous 1-2-1 days have incorporated life drawing in the morning, followed by development and guidance in the afternoon. If you would like to discuss booking one of these days with me please get in touch.
Depending on the artist/s I am also happy to work with two people so that costs can be shared.
“What would I say about doing a 1-2-1 day with Sophie? Just Do It!! Sophie has given me confidence, structure and a belief that I can move forward with my art. I’ve been stuck for so long, I can’t believe that I finally know where I’m going.” Margaret Hume Designs
